Kaya FC started the game with
confidence dictating the tempo as expected after their first home win against
New Radiant SC of Maldives.
The home side mounted
pressure after pressure on Balestier Khalsa but only saw their midfield worker
Alfred Osei’s long-range shot in the first 3rd and 4th minutes go over the bar.
The real scoring chance
landed on Jovin Bedic but his shot from the 6y box was deflected wide
for a corner in the 5th minutes of play.
16th minutes Balestier Khalsa no 17 had a chance to make
some dangerous cutting but Kaya defense was too good to stop his threat.
After a short combination play in the 19th minutes, Junior
Munoz found Oj Poteria in the box but he was unable to take control of the ball
as everyone in Rizal Stadium were looking for an opener.
21st minutes Balestier were force to bring in No.13 for the
No. 5 who was struggling right from the warm up.
23rd minutes Miguel Tanton saw his yellow card as
he reacted after the Balestier no. 23 brought him.
26th minutes, the away sides tried to push forward and were
rewarded with a corner.
27th minutes Dominic del Rosario made his way with ball from
the left wing and was able to find Jovin Bedic who missed the shot from a close
range.
Kenshiro Daniels immediately had his own chance in the box but
he was too slow to pull the trigger as his shot blocked went to Osei whose
effort was also block from the edge of the box as Kaya kept searching for a goal.
As the away side had no chance of getting close to kaya
goal, they tried a long rage shot, which was too weak to threaten the Kaya no.
1 in the 32nd minutes.
Kaya that should have been 3 goals up by now saw another
right-footed long rage afford by Alfred Osei went wide in the 34th
minutes.
Few minutes later, Oj peteria saw his shot safe by the away
goalkeeper who was busy through out the evening.
Miscommunication between the Kaya defense almost cause a
problem for the team but were lucky to the ball go out for a corner for the
away team in the 36th minutes.
OJ Poteria had another chance but his effort was too weak to
beat the goalkeeper who was on high alert as the pressure kept mounting on
them.
After the interval, Kaya were again on top as Anton Ugarte
lashes home at the 47th minutes with a right foot at the bottom left
corner of the net after a brilliant cut in from the left wing to give Kaya a
1:0 lead in Rizal Stadium and left all the home fans standing and screaming
after such a long search.
After
having the goal, kaya FC dropped back and that invited the Balestier to come
out to attack and in the 60th minutes, they were almost reward but
they saw their goal ruled
out for offside. The away side kept pressing and had another attempt but
the shot was blocked for a corner. As pressure kept mounting on Kaya this
period the Kaya No. 27 got booked as he stopped the away side from breaking
into the box.
Kaya suddenly realized the mistake they were going to make
for staying deep and decided to come out again and were almost rewarded with Anton
Ugarte diving header in the box but the goalkeeper was equal to the task in the
72 minutes of play.
Kaya No.
19 came close again but his last kick of the night went wide as he made way for
the no. 14 in the 76 minutes. The
new man in the pitch tried to make some impact but his shot followed the
footstep of the man that went out before him in the 84th minutes.
As the
game was coming to and end, Oj poteria was sent on a 1v1 with the goalkeeper
but he fail to take the chance as the goalkeeper closed him down.
When it
was almost over Balestier Khalsa pushed for and equalizer but the game ended
1:0 in favor of Kaya FC as they secured their second home win in the AFC Cup.
