Global 2:1 Green Archers United
Both
teams walked into the pitch with Green Archers wearing their white long sleeves
while Global were on their all blue short sleeves jerseys!
Global FC lined up in a 4:2:3:1
formation and changed to 3:2:3:2. Green Archers lined up in a 4:3:3 formation
during attack and dropped to a 4:5:1 when defending.
The
game started with Global FC sending a brilliant long lofted pass to Minegishi
Hikaru who was left a lone to face the Archers goalkeeper in a 1v1 situation
but he squandered the chance in the first 20 seconds for a team that was looking
to settle early in the game. Global kept threatening the Archers defensive line
with long pass to Minegishi but they quickly recognized the tactics and were
able to neutralize the threat of the striker and kept him quite for the
remaining period of his game.
Archers
took over as the physical play of the midfielders and Caligdongs ability to
keep hold of the ball left Global that likes to play from the center of the
filed confused. The Archers front three of Gary Epesso, Ariola Jimuel and Melliza
Jesus became a constant threat to Global defense and it was no surprise that
the goal finally came when Gary Epesso nodded home a beautiful header in the 27
minutes of play.
The
constant pressure from Green Archers remained and should have been 3:0 up
before half time.
Global
FC coach was forced to make two beautiful substitutions that brought about the
victory for Global at the beginning of the second half when the defender Bateau
Sean and the Striker Kouassi Koffi who was named the man of the match came into
the game. Kouassi brought in a new spirit into the team and Elhabib Izzeldin as
they were swapping positions constantly. Their intensity increased when the
Archers front 3 were all out and Global defenders were able to press higher. The
pressure mounted on Archers as Global missed chances. The break through came in
the 82 minutes when Matt Hartmann netted the free kick at the edge of the 18
yard box to make it 1:1.
At
83 minutes the Archers defender Ebanda William was shown a red card after
receiving his second yellow card in the game and that opened more doors for
Global FC.
The
highlight of it all was when Kouassi’s left footed thunderbolt goal that almost
cut the net at 90+4 minutes when everyone though the game was over gave Global
a much-needed 2:1 victory over Green Archers United.
It
was a painful loss for Animo but you play to inspire!
The
game ended with Green Archers having 5 yellow cards and 1 red card while Global
got 2 yellow cards.
