Nomads FC chased shadows as Ceres FC scored 15 goals in UFL Cup 2016

The 15:0 game that saw Martin Steuble and Jeong Woo Lee scored hat trick started with Ceres FC keeping possession while Nomads applied physical and direct marking.

After seeing the approach of Nomads, Ceres stepped up their physical aspect of the game and at 3 minutes Gallardo Valdes scored the opening goal after a series of short combination passes for the men on white and green stripes to realize the task ahead of them for the 90 minutes.

Nomads frustrated Ceres FC after the first goal with their deep lying defense for a while but goals started coming like rain when Bienvenido Maranon found the net at 22 minutes with a beautiful header and Stephan Shrock registered another at 27 minutes. The game went far beyond Nomads when Patrick Reichelt scored at 34, Martin Steuble at 36, Carli de Murga at 39 and Gallardo Valdes at 40 minutes to end the half time with 9:0 lead.

Nomads FC team did not really have proper understanding between them as they played like a pick up game with some veterans working hard to keep up with the pace of the game but were physically exhausted before the end of the half. Some players got injured and were carried out on stretcher because of the force they applied to keep up with Ceres constant pressure.

The second period started and Nomads came in with some intentions but Ceres did not give them time to organize as they hipped more misery on the team and the coach who was standing on the technical line with folded arms in disbelieve as six more goals were flying into their net in different styles.

Nomads had a chance but were unlucky to see their only consolation goal disallowed for offside after Ceres FC goalkeeper’s blunder in the second half. They had another chance but the player who should have done better played it wide.

Martin Steuble and Stephan Shrock jointly collected the man of the match after the wonderful display by the pair.

Ceres played a beautiful game but needs more challenge if they are to succeed in AFC competition.

Nomads have now conceded 19 goals in 2 matches in this UFL Cup 2016. A record in which only Passargad FC is keeping pace with them on 14 goals in 2 matches.
